How to Apply

You’ll have a variety of program options, you’ll save money, and you’ll have faculty and staff committed to helping you succeed! Applying is easy. No SATs, no essays! Just follow the instructions based on the student categories in the two sections below.

  A student attending college for the first time. You must be 18 years of age by the first day of instruction, a high school graduate or have received a GED.

  Step 1: Apply to Leeward CC
  Once you receive your acceptance email, continue with the following steps:

  Step 3: Take your Placement Test

  Step 4: Complete your Health Clearance Form
  Please use Med+Proctor to submit medical/immunization records. Itʻs easy – just follow these steps !

  Step 5: New Student Orientation (NSO) Online
  You must complete NSO Online to familiarize yourself with important campus information. The NSO Online link is in your acceptance email.

  Step 6: Mandatory Incoming Student Advising
  An academic advisor/Counselor will help you choose your classes and explore careers so that you are on track. You will receive the link to sign up for an Incoming Student Advising appointment once you complete NSO Online.

  Transfer From a Non-UH Campus
  A student currently attending college or has earned college credit(s) from a non-UH campus.

  Step 1: Apply to Leeward CC
  Once you receive your acceptance email, continue with the following steps:

  Step 2: Choose an Early College Program
  Every high school has its own policies and procedures to enter its Early College programs. Work closely with your high school early college counselor to select an early college program that’s best fit for you.

  Step 3: Work with your high school counselor to submit BOTH a Leeward CC Application AND either a Dual Credit or Early Admission Application. Please check with your high school Early College counselor for requirements.
  Homeschooled students should speak directly with the Leeward CC Early Admit Counselor .

  Note Early College-specific deadlines: May 1 for summer and fall; November 15 for spring. No late applications are accepted.

  Once you received your acceptance email…

  Step 7: Connect with your high school Early College counselor who will inform you about registration dates.

  Active Duty Military, Military Dependent, Veteran, Hawaii-Based National Guard

  Step 1: Apply to Leeward CC
  Once you receive your acceptance email, continue with the following steps:

  Step 3: Apply for Benefits
  Apply for your VA Education Benefit online. Veterans who plan to give their dependents all or some of their Education Benefit must apply online for Transferred Education Benefits.

  Step 4: Submit Documents
  If you are a Veteran, a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and DD214 must be submitted to the VA School Certifying Officials at the Admissions and Records Office. For more information regarding benefits, please visit our Military page.

  If you are on Military Orders on the island, a copy of your Military Orders must be filed and dropped to the Leeward CC Admissions and Records office using the following instructions .

  Minimum Requirements for Degree Program:

  • • You must be 18 years of age
      OR you must have completed high school or the equivalent
    • You must have a minimum TOEFL score of 61iBT (500PBT), or IELTS score of 5.5, STEP EIKEN 2A, or GTEC 1051, Duolingo score of 85 (No official English Proficiency Test Score is required for the ESL Pathway Program).

      Note: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. However, we strongly recommend applying 3 months before the start of a semester.

      Senior Citizen Visitor Program
      Eligible senior citizens may attend Leeward CC without payment of tuition and fees as a “senior visitor”. Senior Visitors must apply and obtain all approvals each semester, and no earlier than the first day of instruction for the term. Eligible seniors are limited to visiting no more than three (3) courses per semester and the Senior Visitor Program is not offered during summer sessions.

      Participation in the Senior Visitor Program is not guaranteed and is dependent upon eligibility, and availability of space in the course, and ultimately requires the approval of the faculty teaching the course. The decision of the faculty member to approve or deny a senior visitor request is final.

      To be eligible, applicants to the Senior Visitor Program must:

      • • Be sixty (60) years of age or older as of the first day of instruction for the semester.
        • Be a resident of the State of Hawai’i for tuition purposes as defined by the University.
        • Submit all required Health Clearance documentation.
        • Meet all course prerequisites.

        Senior Visitors must also abide by the UH Student Conduct Code.

        Senior Citizens who qualify for the Senior Citizen Visitor Program should complete an online Leeward CC Senior Visitor Program Application. Applications may be submitted once the Fall or Spring Class Availability information is made available online, but please note that senior visitor applications will not be reviewed until after the first day of instruction for the semester you are applying for.
